Bright red to crimson hues, this wine confidently takes charge with intense lifted vanilla aromatics balanced with red currants, violets, and mulberry fruits. Firm and full on the palate with a subtle sweetness giving a rich mouth feel. The vanilla aromatics carry through on the palate and compliment subtle flavors of red currants, dark cherries, and chocolate. The palate is filled with dark berry fruit and the soft tannins provide a lingering finish.
Our blend included Paso Robles Merlot for a lush fruit middle; Syrah for its blueberry note; Tempranillo with its exotic spice; and Zinfandel for a jammy note. The nose shows cherry pie, rhubarb, boysenberry jam, and a hint of rosemary. French oak adds a touch of vanilla and nutmeg. The wine drinks of juicy blue and black fruit .avors with subtle oak to round and balance the wine. Composition: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 7% Syrah, 3% Tempranillo, 1% Zinfandel
A favorite value cabernet, the new vintage of Avalon Napa Valley ups the ante, including fruit from all the region's great sub-appellations - Howell Mountain, Rutherford and Oakville - as well as fruit from along the Silverado Trail and Soda Canyon. The 2013 is brick red, with a lovely cab nose of Bing cherry, cassis and anise, with secondary aromas of vanilla and clove spice, shortbread and smoke. Supple and easy to drink, the fruit and spice come through concentrated on the palate. A great follow up to their widely touted line ups of wine.
Deeply extracted cherry and bright cassis arrest the senses, holding captive on both the nose and the palate. Swiftly followed by red currant jam and black pepper, the supple mouthfeel fills out this full-bodied wine. Toasty vanilla from oak ageing heightens the dense fruit. These fields are tended under Bogle’s watchful eye and the fruit harvested from them adds diverse and complex flavors to our wines.
